What they're saying Listen to what a few chorus members from around the country have to say about being in orgnazations like ours:
I had just lost my job and was very upset and depressed. My sister, who sings with another chorus, kept after me to get into Sweet Adelines. "You have to find a chorus", she would say. Finally, I found an address on the internet in Altoona for a chorus. I walked into the church hall by myself thinking "what on earth am I doing here? I don't know anyone." Altoona Chorus has been my "therapy" now for at least ten years. Even when I'm down and really don't feel like going to rehearsal, I do it anyway. I know that I will feel 100 percent better by the time I leave. And it's not just the camaraderie. Oh, yes, the music!!!! There's so much to learn. I think of it as a music lesson. The songs we sing are as diverse as the people who sing them. Marcia T, Altoona Chorus
“I enjoy the fun and fellowship of the ladies, and the beautiful music. Many of the members in my group I have known for years and feel comfortable singing with them. I consider my time with them to be much needed therapy!” |
